just added these to my Neocities link page, but might as well send them here too:

The Dungeons and Dragons community forums were shut down in late 2015, shortly after the release of D&D 5e. The forums hosted tens of thousands of discussion threads across several editions of D&D.

The G+ Archives is a set of exports from now-defunct Google Plus TTRPG communities. A full directory can be found here.

The Story Games Index preserves threads from the Story Games community forums. The design-focused subforum, Praxis was more poorly preserved.

The Gauntlet forums inherited many users from Google Plus, especially the Gauntlet community that inspired it.

Fictioneers is, unfortunately, a community I know very little about. It seems to have focused on the "storygames" lineage of TTRPGs.

Wynwerod was relatively short-lived, but while it was active it seems to have hosted some of the Gauntlet survivors, and may have shared users with Fictioneers.

If there's similar resources available for other historical TTRPG communities of note, let me know!

My freeware rec page has been updated!

  • More games were added
  • Demon King Chronicle got a big update, because now I've actually played it instead of just hearing how good it is.
  • A couple of the featured games had additional resources added, because if I didn't include them it would be extremely difficult to find relevant information for them.

I have a whole list of games that I've heard are really good, but... I'm gonna pace myself and probably only add them as I give them a try myself.

(I feel a little weird about counting demos as freeware on the page... maybe I'll change that later. But for now I'm including them if they have enough depth or material to justify their inclusion.)

As of tonight, the navigation bar is now fully functional! I have a homepage, a genre history hub, a ttrpg hub, a freeware showcase page, and a general link showcase page. All of these are still under construction or directly connected to pages that are still under construction, but! the Full Skeleton is now online. this is phase 2 now. or possibly phase 3.

The homepage has been updated to reflect the next areas of focus, and to link to the pages I'm particularly proud of at the moment

More progress! This time it's the page of games that I want to show off. probably won't be "complete" until i stop liking games but it's already in a pretty good spot with more to come

Page of note is here, the freeware page is gonna look similar but I want to add more to it

First few entries in the magical girl timeline are up! Most of it speaks for itself, but I find it interesting how it was VERY much a Toei brand thing for a few years there. Also better reception in Italy than expected, which explains Winx Club somewhat.

I think my ideal timeline format would let me do more with showing what's ongoing across different years, but I'm satisfied with what's here already.

Up next is probably either mecha timeline, filling out the freeware page, or pulling together the links page. I saw a "a website is like a model train set" analogy which... is starting to feel accurate hahahahaha.

the work is proceeding nicely, just made myself some space to talk about games and game theory. The navigation bar is almost fully functional!

The freeware part of the site is one that I tried to start work for on Cohost, but was never really satisfied with the results. What I want is to provide a crossroads, a way to do some of the work for others to make finding games easier. It's... probably too big a project to attempt on my own. No clue if I'll be able to truly achieve that. But I at least want to get started.

Next phase of the site is done, got the pages for my mecha and magical girl infodumps ready, although the main content will be later-me's problem. Furthermore, I figured out the answer to a couple different problems that had been bothering me: I can now edit my big navigation bar and other recurring elements from a single page, instead of modifying it on every individual page, and I can embed my guestbook on the home page!

[Guy from Pokemon voice] Technology sure is incredible!

After struggling with getting an emberded comment section working, I decided to go for an external guestbook instead. It's significantly more convenient. I also swapped some pieces of the homepage around, reworked the blog integration, and made the navbar better for mobile.

It's progress, bit by bit

okay i know i mentioned it already in my first posts but now my site is Actually open and looking good. I didn't think I'd be able to keep this up but it kept my focus way better than a LOT of other things. I'm kind of shocked. Link again just because

I guess the next step (ha) is either filling out some of the interest pages, or figuring out what my code actually does. At least one of those.

I'm a lot more comfortable with writing than visual design. Something about the problems having more obvious solutions, or at least being more familiar with the tools. There's a lot of cool resources out there for learning how to make a website, but it's also like... four different skillsets to learn at once. A little intimidating.

But hey, no sense holding back, right? Just gotta keep at it a little at a time
